Generational differences.

Many different generations are working together at all times. It’s helpful to understand how certain generations have grown up so that you can understand how they may appreciate things a bit differently than other generations. Over generalizations of a group isn’t great, so I always take this type of information as one of the many inputs in thinking about how to work with others.

Here is a summary of the various generations currently in the workplace, and a bit of insight on how to work well with them.

Remember these things:

• Every person is different.

• Understanding how different generations grew up and how they are "characterized" as a group can help us be more aware of situations and potentially handle them better.

• Take these suggestions as over-generalizations.
