Career progression.
Career progression isn't always linear. It's OK to not continuously climb the ranks and get promoted at every job change. Many times there are great reasons for a lateral move or a move that may not look like advancement. Here two reasons why I have taken a lateral moves in my career:
Changed functions to get more varied experience
Taken a more visible role that can set me up for later success
